Installing & Patching
Two habits prevent almost every install/patch problem: run the patcher as Administrator, and whitelist your LxudRO folder in your anti-virus. Anti-virus software is the #1 cause of failed and corrupted patches.
Failed patch / "Failed to get patch"
- Close the patcher and reopen it — most patch errors are transient.
- If it keeps failing, the patch server may be briefly busy; wait a little and retry.
- Run the patcher as Administrator and ensure your AV isn't blocking it.
- Still failing? Report it in Discord (opens in a new tab).
Slow patching
- Download the latest installer from lxudro.net/downloads (opens in a new tab) into a new folder.
- Copy/merge everything from that new folder into your existing LxudRO folder, overwriting when prompted.
- Add the folder to your anti-virus exceptions (live scanning throttles patch writes).
Update failed / repacking failed
- Run the patcher as Administrator.
- Add LxudRO to anti-virus exceptions and make sure you have free disk space.
- Re-run the patcher; if it still fails, reinstall with the Full Installer.
Full Installer error / can't run or delete the installer
- Run as Administrator.
- Right-click the installer → Properties → tick Unblock (Windows blocks files downloaded from the web) → Apply.
- Temporarily disable real-time AV protection during install, then re-enable it (and add an exception).
Download damaged or timed out
- Re-download the installer — the file was corrupted or the connection dropped mid-download.
- Use a stable/wired connection and pause other large downloads.
- Try a different mirror if one is offered on the downloads page (opens in a new tab).
Won't start after a successful patch
- Run the patcher once more as Administrator to confirm all files are present.
- Open GameSettings.exe and set a valid resolution (start at 1024×768).
- Verify your AV didn't quarantine the executable or Gepard files.
Installing on Windows Vista / very old systems
- Run both the installer and patcher as Administrator.
- Right-click → Properties → Compatibility → run in compatibility mode for an earlier Windows.
- Disable UAC via
MSCONFIG → Tools → Disable UACif patching is blocked (see Crashing).
